Absolute Brand Choices : Lowering the demand for single-use plastic bottles

Our plastic problem has hit a tipping point.

Every year, billions of pounds of waste end up in the oceans, forming city sized islands made entirely of trash.

A vast majority of this trash is plastic, meaning it will take thousands of years to decompose.

Plastic bottles make up a large proportion of plastic waste, and they actually go through an extensive pollutant filled process to create.

For example, creating one year’s worth of water bottles uses up a whopping 17 million barrels of oil.

As a business, we are on a continuous journey to rethink the way we do things and move towards a greener approach, day by day, time and time again.

We have been using reusable glass bottles for our water and a local milkman many years now, but by introducing our new branded reusable bottles, all of our staff can now take one for the road, for a run or as a give-away gift.

By switching to a reusable bottle, you can save around 150 single-use plastic bottles from use every year and benefit from a sustainable way to hydrate.

We have chosen a stainless steel option as a safe and healthy material for storing our beverages. Stainless steel is a non-toxic material that doesn’t leach chemicals, even if the bottle becomes damaged or if you fill it with boiling liquids like tea or coffee.

More than that, a reusable water bottle takes less oil to produce, replaces all the plastic that you would have used and thereby reduces both your carbon footprint and helps reduce the plastic burden on landfills, oceans, streams and other places that plastic waste ends up.

Same as with using reusable water bottles, reusing containers is one of the most effective and inexpensive ways to reduce the environmental impact on packaging. Refilling and reusing containers directly reduces the demand for disposable plastic.

Accordingly, lowering demand for single-use containers reduces waste and energy consumption.

So next time you are at the supermarket and you think of buying a package of bottled water, consider your alternatives.

Not only that reusable water bottles are cheaper on the long run, but they are also a safer and more sustainable option to disposable ones.

What are your brand choices towards a more sustainable workplace?
